CARE FOR OUR COMMON HOME - FMA PHILIPPINES
Figlie di Maria Ausiliatrice
The Provincial Educating Community of FMA Philippines organized a camp on caring for our common home on May 25-27, 2019 in Calapan City, Mindoro Oriental. 147 children, young people, parents, teachers, past pupils and Sisters attended the camp which aimed to deepen their understanding of Laudato Si and their call to be stewards of creation and to work for the cause of the environment. Among the highlights of the camp were the common study of and reflection on Laudato Si, the eco-lympics-style group team-building, coastal clean-up along the shores of a nearby beach resort, the urban farming at the Mary Help of Christians Agricultural School, the mangrove-planting at the Silonay Mangrove Conservation and Ecopark, and common moments for prayer as well as for camaraderie. The PEC is of the belief that that no matter how daunting the environmental challenges may seem, their individual and collective actions can truly make a big impact towards taking care of the beautiful world God has given humankind to live in.
